  • A record crowd celebrated the Southern Center for Human Rights’ annual Justice Taking Root event held on May 12, 2015 at Summerour Studio in Atlanta. The generosity of our attendees, sponsors, and contributors allowed us to raise more than $60,000. Justice Taking Root is SCHR’s annual Georgia benefit reception providing unrestricted support for our work, an opportunity to thank friends and allies, and introduce new friends to SCHR. SHCR is a nonprofit, public interest organization that provides legal representation to people facing the death penalty, challenges human rights violations in prisons and jails, seeks through litigation and advocacy to improve legal representation for poor people accused of crimes, and advocates for criminal justice system reforms on behalf of those affected by the system in the southern United States.
